As part of its Living Office concept, Herman Miller has launched two new office systems: Locale, designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Collin of Industrial Facility; and Public Office Landscape, designed by Yves Béhar and fuseproject.

The idea behind Locale is to enable people to seamlessly transition between working together and alone, either in seated or standing positions. During the creative process, the designers drew inspiration from their own office as well as the typical English high street, which serves the community by arranging a variety of activities and services near one another.

Locale encompasses several adjustable elements, including storage solutions, desks and dividers.

Public Office Landscape was created based on the belief that the more people connect, the better they work. Through global research, Herman Miller found out that 70% of workplace collaboration happens at the desk, and most of these interactions usually last three to five minutes.

Yves Béhar used this information to transform every part of the office into places for collaboration. All components of Public Office Landscape support casual work, from the individual desks to seating areas, keeping the office in a state of flow, where people are able to move freely between collaborative and individual modes of work.
