Founded by Suzanne Donaldson - a photo editor who has worked at Robert Mapplethorpe Studio and numerous fashion magazines - the blog highlights chic accessories, beautifully composed lifestyle shots and animal-inspired fashion, as well as going behind the scenes to meet the dogs, cats and birds behind some of art and culture's biggest names.

Aid to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan by Kenneth Cobonpue

Filipino furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue has created a limited-edition candle holder set to help the victims of typhoon Haiyan, which devastated huge regions of the Philippines last November. Developed in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the Habitat Youth Council, the majority of proceeds will be donated towards the rebuild.

Following on from this week's UK launch of Modernist Cuisine At Home, we profile a similarly educational food blog. As the owner of experimental macrobiotic restaurant Baume, Bruno Chemel's blog Savorama takes the Californian restaurant's famously complex dishes and breaks them down to a more comprehensible level. 

With fact files on his favourite and most used ingredients, and information on which fruits and vegetables are in season and when best to buy them, the site's aim is to bring gourmet cuisine to the table of the layman.
