Das Haus by Louise Campbell at IMM Cologne 2014

Wednesday, 15 January 2014

Das Haus is the simulation of a home that takes place within the Pure Village hall at IMM Cologne, each year designed by a different professional. For the 2014 edition the fair's organisers invited Danish designer Louise Campbell to come up with a concept and define architectural elements and the furnishing for the interior and outdoor spaces of the "house".

Campbell's Das Haus, entitled  0-100, is a "soft rebellion against the sharp demarcations of conventional homes". The designer created one large open space, a no-tech house that is both minimalist and inviting.

Highlights include a wall covered with tools - a place for making everything needed in order to maintain a comfortable home - and the huge bed area, "not hidden away, but placed in the middle of everything," says the designer, "for use 24/7".

IMM Cologne runs until January 19 and Homebuildlife subscribers can read a full report next week.
