The October shows at BITEC emphasised these themes with an excellent presentation of Thai lifestyle designs from up-and-coming designers under the Talent Thai 2013 project. Organised by the Thailand Institute of Design and Innovation Promotion, the Talent Thai 2013 pavilion showcased 42 brands with strong potential to be successful in local and international markets.
The pavilion was divided into two sections: the Now group, featuring designers with 1-3 years' experience in creating lifestyle products, and the Next group, featuring designers with 4-8 years’ experience in lifestyle product designs.
Many designers adopted an eco approach, using recycled materials, such as PiN designer Saruta Kiatparkpoom turning scrap metals into artistic creations that won a Design Excellence (DEmark) award, and Daddy's Girl designer Danaiya Konglapamnuay, who takes unwanted plastic from her father's foundry and turn them into colourful bags.
