Interested in revitalising the tradition of the Decorative Arts, Parisian Gallery BSL commissioned designers to create works from wood, hard stones, and copper, brass or bronze - the original materials of the historic movement.
Nacho Carbonell chose to create a collection of clocks out of bronze and agate, the original materials used in clock-making.
Carbonell designed a series of strange creatures that only provide the time if one takes the trouble to look inside, as a reference to our own internal body clocks. These anthropomorphic pieces explore the boundaries between art and design, sculpture and function, tradition and innovation.
The collection was initially presented at Design Miami/Basel in June, and is now on show at the gallery in Paris until November 23rd.
