Chihuahua Cloud: Reiser + Umemoto for Chihuahua


Muji's creative director Kenya Hara has launched a new venture that offers downloadable blueprints for kennels, houses and wearable furnishings - designed especially for dogs by some of the world's most renowned architects and designers.

Architecture For Dogs's first collection includes 13 designs by high-profile practices including MVRDV, Konstantin Grcic, Shigeru Ban, Toyo ItoTorafu Architects and Atelier Bow-Wow, and will be on show at Design Miami/ in December.

Each designer has been asked to consider the needs of the breed they are designing for, resulting in a number of specialised pieces. These include a super-sized coat for Chihuahuas; a rocking dog house for Beagles to play in; and a fluffy, white, blanketed cave for a Bichon Frise to disguise itself inside.

Operating as an open-source network, the website offers each design for download and is encouraging participants to post photos of how they have built and used the structures.
