Booming Vases are the result of a collaboration between Italian ceramist Alessio Sarri and Analogia Project (the Italian design duo of Andrea Mancuso and Emilia Serra). The aim of the objects is to explore two opposite essential elements: air and matter, representing power and fragility.

Nacho Carbonell has opened his studio to visitors for Dutch Design Week this year. Samples, drawings, prototypes, experiments and finished sculptures sit alongside plants, tools and raw materials in the workshop, which is part of Sectie C in the east of Eindhoven.

One of the most interesting exhibitions during the London Design Festival this month was Blanks In Between, a project by speculative design practice Workshop For Potential Design in which six designers considered negative space, unused potential, and the ideas that come from blankness.

Currently on show at west London's Vessel Gallery, this series of lighting by design studio Odd Matter is made of stained glass panels held together by electro-plated copper.

Design store Skandium introduced four new products to its in-house range, Studio Skandium, last week. A mini exhibition at its Brompton Road store showed the making process of the pieces, displaying samples and original sketches next to final fabrics, and foam and paper models next to production ceramic pieces.

Former creative director at Issey Miyake, Dai Fujiwara invented the 'color-hunting' concept. Him and his team reproduce colour on a piece of paper by mixing watercolours, to perfectly match tones that they come accross in the wild. If the swatch disappears into the target, it’s a perfect catch.
Fujiwara thus went colour hunting amongst wild lions, and used his finds as a base to reinterpret the Camper Pelotas shoes.
