Marking the tercentenary of the Swiss <a href="http://www.abbatialebellelay.ch/index.php?id=46&lang=fr" target="_blank">Bellelay Abbey</a>
<span style="color: #333333;"><a href="http://www.abbatialebellelay.ch/index.php?id=46&lang=fr" target="_blank"> Foundation</a>, this year the exhibition invited Basel-based artist Renate Buser to display her work in the beautiful baroque setting of the abbey.</span><br />
<br />
In her characteristic style blending photography, art and architecture, she took certain architectural details from the surrounding architecture and blew them up in size, sometimes reversing them as well. This realistic imagery is then presented set in between the columns and the arches throughout the rooms, making for a new and slightly off-setting space where perspective and proportions trick the eye of the visitor for an absorbing cinematic experience.

<b>How did The Color Condition come about?</b><br />
We met through a mutual friend in the art community who was working on a big project; a video piece involving crazy costumes and stunt show skiing. We got together during that time and we found out that we worked really well. We decided to continue collaborating together and then our first real job came along in Spring 2010, a temporary outdoor installation.<br />

Our favourite colours are constantly changing. Right now it is
metallics, we have been gravitating towards the warm colours such as
copper right now, mixed with hot pinks, black, and a shot of something

<b>What is the most interesting event or collaboration The Color Condition has been part of?</b><br />
Every installation has its own special properties , but one of the most memorable was one of our very first installations which was in York, Maine at the historical Nevada Motel located right on the beach. 21 performance and installation artists from all over were selected to participate and create a piece within a room. It was inspiring to meet the artists and the whole community came out to see the show. <br />

We have so many dreams with the streamers. We want to cover a train that travels across the country! We do see things going beyond streamers. Each design is the blown up version of a simple scribble made with crayons. Chinese, Stockholm-based designer <a href="http://tiantang.se/" target="_blank">Tian Tiang</a> creates versatile furniture for children. Her main motivation is to nurture their creativity and stimulate their imagination. She thus came up with two types of drawing tables, the Sketch coffee table and the Come & Draw table. Each comprises a stack of colourful sheets of paper, encouraging spontaneous games and wild brainstorming.<br />

For his graduation project, Royal College of Art student <a href="http://www.marcinrusak.com/" target="_blank">Marcin Rusak</a> created an installation exploring flowers, including a vase made of petals and a series of scents comparing the strong smell of flowers from a garden to the weaker scents of those sold at a florist or a supermarket.<br />

The vase explores the idea of perishable objects and adding value. Rather than creating an object that is long-lasting but likely to be thrown away within a matter of years, Rusak has created a vase that will naturally degrade and perish, making its shorter life more special.<br />
