Marimekko’s design team were inspired by the changing seasons and weather for their Autumn 2013 home collection, presented during Maison & Objet. The mood, colours and patterns of weather are translated into a range of table linen and ceramics.
Aquarelle motifs are applied to dinner plates, creating the effect of an artist's watercolour palette or a storm heading over the horizon, while sketchy mark-making and cross hatching textures create the movement of the wind blowing through trees and reeds.
Stormy greys and blues evoke the feeling of a rainy day while lush forest greens and yellow are reminiscent of the sun breaking through the clouds.
