Schemata Architects is displaying its new project, ColoRing, at Rossana Orlandi this week. The collection of tables use a traditional wood polishing technique called Udukuri, adapted to generate vibrantly painted wood grain finishes.
The wood is first coarsely brushed to reveal the underlying hard wood surface with a deep natural wood grain; then three layers of contrasting paint are applied, sanded and polished to expose organic patterns in striking and unexpected colour combinations.
