Pinch at Decorex 2012

Decorex, the UK’s dedicated show for interior design professionals, closes the doors to its 2012 edition at the end of today. This year saw a discernible move from the 350 exhibitors towards ambient colours and mild textures in the latest collections.

Early 20th century: the elegance of pre-1939 interior design was a clear inspiration for many of the new collections on display. Refined colour palettes and materials embodied the feel of authenticity and optimism associated with the styles from the period.

Mild metallics: metallics and metal-effect finishes are used in a variety of products and accessories to give a soft glow to many of the subtly-lit environments at the show. Matte gold, silver, copper and bronze surfaces allow consumers to buy into luxury in an understated and nuanced way.

Muted greens: dimmed greens are used as a feature colour in rugs, wallpaper and decorative tableware to visually freshen warmer interiors.
