BMW and London's ICA teamed up this summer for Art Drive! - an exhibition spread across five floors of a multistorey car park in Shoreditch, east London, featuring 16 cars painted by international artists.

BMW's Art Car series was born in 1975 with a car painted by Alexander Calder. Since then, BMW has invited artists such as Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein and most recently Jeff Koons to paint its cars. The designs are inspired by themes as varied as speed, nature, tribal heritage and classical art.

Andy Warhol said of his 1979 design, "I have tried to give a vivid depiction of speed. If a car is really fast, all contours and colours will become blurred." Subscribers can read the full report here.
