One of WGSN's favorite new brands at New York International Gift Fair is Hasami Porcelain Japan. Distributed in the US by Saikai Trading, a wholesaler of fine Japanese tableware and homeware, the porcelain company is based in a historical town in the south of Japan.
With a rich heritage in porcelain ware, Hasami is a poignantly stark and precise product. The stackable beige pieces are unglazed and highly tactile, giving the minimal lines a rustic finish. Colour-blocked bowls in powder grey and dusty blue pit glazed and non-glazed finishes in direct contrast to each other to create depth and texture.
This NYIGF was Hasami's debut into the US market. To see how Hasami fit into the key trends spotted at NYIGF 2011, read the live from here.
