Botanical walls at Isetan Shinjuku store, Tokyo

Japanese artist Makoto Azuma has decorated Shinjuku's Isetan department store with foliage installations to mark its grand reopening.



Artist Makoto Azuma is a renowned flower artist and owner of haute floral boutique Jardin des Fleurs. He has recently created installations for concept store valveat81 in Aoyama and window displays for Maison Hermès in Ginza.

His installation for Isetan, titled Collapsible Leaves, uses hundreds of leaves to add texture and dimension to the walls and pillars throughout the store, with various folding, gathering and layering techniques. Subscribers can read our full report here.
