Snug by Arabella McNie at Wool House |
London's Somerset House is currently hosting Wool House, a showcase celebrating the wonder of wool across fashion, interiors and craft. Organised by the Campaign for Wool and curated by Arabella McNie, the exhibition includes exclusive room sets by Donna Wilson, Josephine Ryan, Anne Kyyro Quinn, Kit Kemp, Ashley Hicks, and Fox Linton Associates.
Anne Kyyro Quinn |
Each designer has been tasked with creating a particular type of room - Donna Wilson has made a nursery, Kit Kemp a luxurious bedroom, Ashley Hicks a study, Fox Linton Associates a classic drawing room, Josephine Ryan a natural and super-tactile room, and Anne Kyyro Quinn a boldly-coloured, contemporary room.
Kit Kemp |
A new installation by Dutch tapestry artist Claudy Jongstra, and a 100 feet runner by Cristian Zuzunaga were also commissioned specially for the show, while a bear by crochetdermy artist Shauna Richardson decorates the entranceway to the show, which has been styled to resemble a grand country house.
Josephine Ryan |
Rug weaver Jason Collingwood will be working in-situ throughout the exhibition, weaving on a table loom to demonstrate to the general public the skills involved in working with wool. A set of rooms dedicated to wool's role in fashion will include examples of outfits by fashion leaders like Vivienne Westwood, and live tailoring by the world-famous tailors of Savile Row.

Wool House runs at Somerset House until 24th March, and is a free public exhibition.
