South African manufacturers Wintec Innovation have received the Design Indaba Innovation Award for their Stratflex™furniture, presented at this year's exhibition.
A new patented technology, Stratflex™enables rigid flat boards to be flexed in two or three dimensions, to create furniture for the flat-pack market. Made from plywood and timber, the Stratflex™range is easy to assemble, affordable, and uses locally sourced and sustainable materials.
Expo manager Kelly Berman explained the jury's choice: "We're excited about the flexibility of the technology and how its application could be developed even further into other products, even beyond furniture."
