Scent of design: Flora di Fornasetti
Monday, 1 October 2012
Italian design house Fornasetti has debuted a new scent, Flora di Fornasetti: an elegant white floral bouquet inspired partly by the lush flora that fills the gardens enveloping the Fornasetti house in Milan, and partly by the floral imagery created by Piero Fornasetti and taken from the brand's vast archive.
The image that adorns the scented candle's ceramic vessel is the face of operatic muse Lina Cavalieri, in the guise of the mythical fertility goddess Flora. The design is one of the most recognisable designs from the Tema e Variazioni collection by Fornasetti.
The Fornasetti Profumi per la Casa collection brings to life the vivid and imaginative world of Fornasetti through a selection of hand-crafted and scented decorative objects.
Piero Fornasetti was a Milanese painter, sculptor and interior designer. His creative output, reinterpreted today by his son Barnaba, is composed of a visual vocabulary that is instantly recognisable.
