An exhibition celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of British architect Augustus Pugin has opened at London's prestigious Imago Gallery, featuring the the shortlisted and winning designs from the 4th annual Student Wallpaper Design Competition.

This year's competition brief was to take inspiration from Pugin's work - which included stained glass, encaustic tiles, metalwork, jewellery, ecclesiastical textiles, furniture, wallpaper - and to create a contemporary response.

Stephanie Rostron's hand-sketched paper with animated birds was the winning design, with birds interwinned in a vine of feathers.

The competition was open to undergraduates from four colleges in the UK: Leeds College of Art, Norwich University College of The Arts, University of East London and London College of Communication, with many of the shortlisted winning placements with with leading design industry companies, including Graham & Brown and Anstey.

Isabel Ford's design resembles seed pods and was created using a screen-printing technique.
