IFA 2012 is now in full swing, with both trade and public tech enthusiasts flocking to Berlin's Messe to look at - and test out - the latest innovations from the industry's biggest players.
Electronics giant Sony unveiled a host of new products at its press conference, with CEO Kazuo Hirai personally taking the stage to announce, one by one: an 84" 4K LCD TV; a wearable, Wi-Fi enabled ActionCam; a sleek hybrid UltraBook; and the phone that James Bond will be using in his next movie, the Xperia T.

The 4K LCD TV is the industry's largest so far, designed to wow competitors and the general public alike with a resolution that, in Hirai's words, "virtually eliminates the line between TV and reality". The CEO challenged visitors to walk up to the TV and scrutinise it, asserting that "you will never see a pixel, even in the closest proximity."

Sony also announced a Christmas release for its next gaming innovation, the Wonderbook. The tablet-style device will use Augmented Reality to bring stories to life for children, with the first book in the series to be a Book of Spells that fits into the world of J.K. Rowling's online Harry Potter follow-on, Pottermore.
