Soil Horizons

Soil Horizons by US artist Maggie Puckett (2011) celebrates the beauty of soil and the different colours and textures to be found as one digs into the ground. Puckett created the book using 12 different types of handmade papers constructed from dead leaves, found roots and desert sand, with each page representing a different geological layer.

The front and back pages symbolise the earth’s atmosphere, bedrock, canopy and molten core, which when opened represent the peeling back of the planet’s many layers.

The book is a perfect reference point for our new spring/summer 2014 macro trend, Neo-Geo.
