Dutch design company Barn In The City gives Canadian barn wood a second life, turning it into crafted contemporary furniture & wall cladding. Bleached by the scorching summer sun & harsh freezing winters, the reclaimed wood is given different finishes such as "black silver", copper, bronze, gold, or chrome platinum before being sealed in a clear water-proof resin.
In Canada, rare listed barns from the 19th century are being restored, some sections becoming available during the preservation process. These are being shipped to Holland, to be used by Barn In The City's designers in the creation of exclusive furniture, including bathroom appliances.
