Royal College of Art graduate James Shaw has developed a range of three 'making guns' that create furniture and accessories by spraying paper-mache, squirting liquid pewter, and extruding plastic pellets. The three guns, along with the resulting pieces, are on display at Show RCA until 30 June.

The Plastic Extruding Gun heats recycled HDPE into thin logs that can be built up into layers, creating gloopy-looking solid forms for furniture.

The Pewter Squirt Gun takes a material that we usually see only in its smooth, pristine form, and uses it to squirt irregular formations.

The Papier-Mache Gun combines recycled paper fibres with a binding agent so that the two mix and create a form of paper-mache. The mixture is sprayed onto wireframe structures to create solid forms. Colour can be mixed into the glue, creating the ombre effect seen on Shaw's furniture series.
