The Poetic Wind by Hengchong Yu

Friday, 15 June 2012

Central Saint Martins Industrial Design student Hengchong Yu has designed a living sunshade to be placed outside office windows. Called Poetic Wind, the piece is made from thousands of tiny, dual sided hexagons that individually rotate as a breeze passes through, referencing the movement of leaves.

The design acts as a sun barrier for the office workers while also produings a glistening breeze as the turning of the metallic hexagons catches the light of the sun.

Nice concept. But too disturbing for offices, in my opinion.
