Mantò by Poltrona Frau

Monday, 12 March 2012

Poltrona Frau will launch a new sofa, called Mantò, at the Salone del Mobile next month. The piece wears its upholstery as a cape, and will be available in three sizes, from two-seater to three-seater, and also as a chaise longue.
The frame of the sofa is crafted from beech and poplar plywood, with feet made from solid ash. The design features fully removeable cushions and covers, and is available finished in a choice of leathers or in fabric.

Mantò is the latest in a series of sofa launches to reference haute couture and feature quilted upholstery. Recent examples include La Mise, designed by Luca Nichetto for Cassina, while subscribers can read about the trend at Stockholm Furniture Fair and also in our trend reports Quilting and The New Sofa-Scape.
