Ceramics by Bastien Aubry & Dimitri Broquard

Thursday, 8 March 2012

Ceramic artists Bastien Aubry and Dimitri Broquard create functional pieces with a purposefully skewed, imperfect aesthetic. The effect is expressive, spontaneous, and a world apart from most ceramic pieces.

The duo have showcased their work most recently in In the Beginning It Was Humid, their fourth publication with publishing house Nieves.

By drawing directly onto each piece with loose painted strokes, they subvert a number of traditional ceramic practices and bring to mind both the confessional style of Tracey Emin and the rulebreaking pottery of Grayson Perry.
