Pezo Von Ellrichshausen Architects for Solo Houses

Solo Houses is a new architectural project which aims to give up-and-coming architects a chance to make their mark, affording them free rein to create as they choose. Close-knit collections of up to a dozen buildings are planned, designed to function as second homes - the architectural equivalent of haute couture.

The debut Solo Houses collection will be set in southern Catalonia, in the Matarranya region. The first commission, set to open in September this year, is being designed by Pezo Von Ellrichshausen Architects, a Chilean practice founded by Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen.

Their proposition is described as "a cross between a patio and an observation post... an anti-bunker". To read more about the factors driving this new wave of architectural endeavour, subscribers can view our Shelters trend analysis.
