HBL Technology: Google unveils digital wallet

Google Inc has unveiled a ‘digital wallet’ that from this summer will enable US owners of Android smartphones to pay for goods and services by simply scanning their handset at checkout readers.
Called Google Wallet, the system is powered by a technology called near-field communication, or NFC, which is compatible with newer point-of-sale terminals. It also unveiled Google Offers, which will allow Android phone owners to receive coupons and offers in the same manner.
