The Architecture de Collection agency and the Saint-Gobain group have annouced the prize-winners of the second Saint-Gobain Archinovo 2013, a French architecture competition devoted to individual houses.
The public prize and special distinction from the jury was awarded to Moussafir Architectes for the design of the Maison Escalier in Paris. Built in 2012, the space is designed to resemble a tree or a staircase. The centre of the building features wet rooms and the different living areas are separated by steps and furnished by acacia floors.
Maison Shishiodoshi in Rezé, built in 2010 and designed by Avignon-Clouet Architectes, won the sustainable housing special prize. It was designed as a pavilion and has now been extended
to provide multiple floors to accommodate a family.
