Rock It!, a new exhibition at Rome's Secondome Gallery, is dedicated to design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai. Within the space of the gallery's new headquarters at Via Giovanni da Castel Bolognese, the designers present a selection of their most significant projects from recent years, and two new works commissioned by gallerist Claudia Pignatale, called Rocker n°1 & Rocker n°2.
Also making its debut is Circus, a collection of glass pieces that will become part of the catalogue editions of the gallery.
The two Rockers combine skillful craftsmanship with serial production and demonstrate how children's play, through a sophisticated design process, can be transformed into refined grown-up objects.
The exhibition is curated by Maria Cristina Didero and will run until January 25th 2014.
Francesca Lanzavecchia (an Italian from Pavia) and Hunn Wai (who was born in London and resides in Singapore) met at the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven and since then have continued to design together. Their practice is dedicated to experimentation and innovation, and pays particular attention to material choices and manufacturing processes, which include hand-making by skilled artisans in Asia.
