Ace Hotel, London

Wednesday 18 September 2013

The first Ace Hotel outside the US has opened its doors in east London. The hotel occupies the building that was once home to the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Shoreditch High Street, connecting Old Street with Hackney and the City.

The project of remodelling the building was undertaken by Universal Design Studio, which had never worked on a hotel project before.

The designers prioritised local materials and sourced furniture from vintage dealers as well as British brands such as Benchmark and Ercol.

Although three floors are open and fully booked for the next couple of months, the hotel still had some areas under construction, such as the lobby extension, which includes retail spaces and a restaurant.
