Amazonian Cushions by A Rum Fellow

Wednesday 7 August 2013

Online store A Rum Fellow has launched Amazonian, a series of brightly coloured hand-embroidered cushions, inspired by the vibrancy of the rainforest and made in conjunction with a co-operative of indigenous female artisans.

While exploring the Peruvian Amazon, the company's founders (who we recently profiled) were inspired by the beautiful textiles worn by local women and set to establish a working relationship with a group of artists from the Amazonian Shipibo tribe.

Working together, the Peruvian all-female cooperative creates stunning hand-crafted panels with bright geometric patterns that the A Rum Fellow team ship to England to construct.

Gaining so much from the Shipibo tribe, A Rum Fellow hopes to give something back. A percentage of the collection proceeds go to support the Alianza Arkana charity, who work to protect the rainforest and its indigenous people. Prices range from £115 - 135.
