Algae by Stefano Arienti at Foscarini Spazio Soho

Milan-based artist Stefano Arienti has installed a site-specific version of his Algae installation at Foscarini's New York store, Spazio Soho. Made of plastic bags cut into strips, the artwork resembles a landscape of aquatic plants hanging down from the store's 17ft ceilings.

The artist first exhibited Algae at a solo show in 1987 and the piece has never before been shown outside Italy.

Carlo Urbinati, co-owner of Foscarini, says of the collaboration, “Arienti’s work helps us communicate that the new space will not be an ordinary store, but a place to stimulate thoughts and new ideas.”
