Oki Sato at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

Wednesday, 6 February 2013

Oki Sato, founder of Japanese studio Nendo, is this year's guest of honour at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair. The designer has created an installation and lounge for the fair's main entrance, which was inspired by snowcapped mountain peaks and combines lasercut plastic foam sheets with pieces of furniture created by his studio.

This is the tenth consecutive year that the organisers have invited an internationally renowned designer to create the lounge. Previous participants include Patricia Urquiola, the Bouroullec brothers, Ineke Hans and Konstantin Grcic.

Nine years ago Oki Sato was a yet-to-be discovered designer exhibiting at the fair's area for young and independent designers, the Greenhouse. "It was here that the doors opened for me and enabled me to start my professional career," said Sato.

Homebuildlife will publish a full report on the fair next week.
