Opening tomorrow and running until 22nd February, Subalterno 1's new exhibition GommaPiuma Décor is a collection of research-led chairs by designer Massimiliano Adami.

The collection rethinks how to make use of materials left over from the industrial production of sofas and stuffings. Made of soft polyurethane, each piece features a unique pattern due to the production process, which involves marbling different colours of polyurethane together and pressing the form until set.

This first collection is made of 9+1 pieces. During the opening evening, the tenth piece of the collection will be carved in front of an audience.

Also on show at the exhibition will be a range of expressive pictures exploring the process of making the pieces. These are part of the personal research made by Milan-based photographer Emanuele Zamponi, who has studied the world of Italian craft in his work since 2009.
