Story boxes by Michelle Newby

Ravensbourne graduate Michelle Newby has designed a series of nesting boxes which tell a story when read one by one.

Readers must turn each box over in their hands to follow the progression of the text, and then extract the next box to continue the story.

The final box is made of mirrored cardboard - a reference to the story's theme of finding confidence within, and to the fact that its ending is left for the reader to decide.

The project is Newby's response to a brief set by ISTD which challenged students to present the text of The Waitress, a short story by Jack Zipes, in a way that invested the book with the inventiveness of a magazine.
