The Big British Tea Party on the roof of Selfridges’ flagship celebrates British afternoon tea with a twist, with it being the highest afternoon tea served on London's Oxford Street. The Tea Party opened on May 31 and runs to September 2, coinciding with both the Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.
Selfridges also teamed up with experiential food designers Bompas & Parr to create a nine-hole crazy golf course to work alongside the tea party. The crazy golf concept revisits the idea of the original Selfridges mini-golf set-up that took place on the roof in the 1930s.
“Novelty golf and exciting food are long time bedfellows," comments Harry Parr. "El Bulli, once voted the world’s best restaurant, started life with a miniature golf course. In recent years, the connection has been lost. We plan to readdress this with the seven wonders of London realised as cake-inspired golf obstacles.”
