Marking one year since the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, Product Fitness 80 at London's Design Museum showcases a selection of redesigned Muji products that reduce waste and energy consumption by an impressive 20%.
The moulded sofa shown above is made from a polyurethane foam which rises like a cake to fill the mould, eliminating the waste produced by traditional methods.
The dimensions of standardised products which are taken for granted are reconsidered: here, sticky-tape is narrowed and functionality is not affected.
