John Chamberlain: Choices

Thursday 1 March 2012

New York's Guggenheim pays its respects to the late artist John Chamberlain with the first US retrospective of his work since 1986 - which provides a bold lesson in colour and surface manipulation.

John Chamberlain: Choices consists of approximately 100 works, ranging from Chamberlain's earliest monochromatic iron sculptures to his final large-scale foil pieces. Metal is moulded, compressed and transformed into starting creative forms, in a sculptural, three-dimensional interpretation of Abstract Expressionism.

Subscribers can read our full review here, and draw inspiration from Chamberlain's reworked metal for Resourceful, our A/W 13/14 materials direction.
