Sol LeWitt photo installation at Mondrian SoHo Hotel

This week, a permanent installation of photography by the late artist Sol LeWitt was unveiled at the Mondrian SoHo Hotel in New York City. Displayed on an exterior wall of the hotel, the installation consists of 120 photographs of New York’s Lower East Side taken by LeWitt in 1979.

Entitled SOL LEWITT: On the Walls of the Lower East Side, the photographs have been printed on vinyl and arranged into a grid on a wall measuring 20-feet high by 60-feet wide. It is the first time that this body of work has been exhibited in New York.

The display is a collaboration between the Paula Cooper Gallery and Morgans Hotel Group, and marks the launch of the group’s new initiative to further guest experiences by embracing art and neighbourhood surroundings.
