This week, the design world will be making its way to Paris for the biannual Maison & Objet trade show. For those who want to escape the aisles of the exhibition centre, WGSN-homebuildlife presents a preview of what's on in Paris from September 9-13.

From the hottest new restaurants to the must-see exhibitions and retail openings, Paris will be buzzing with activity due to both Maison & Objet and the first ever Paris Design Week, which follows straight afterwards.

Top of everybody's cultural to-do list will be Club Silencio, which opened for business last Wednesday. This is the real-life version of the nightclub depicted in David Lynch's cult classic film Mulholland Drive from 2001.

The interior is completely designed by the auteur himself, from the 1950s-style furniture and reflective dance floor to the black toilet bowls. The club comprises a concert hall, restaurant, library, cinema and even an indoor forest. During the daytime it's a members-only club, so get there at midnight when it opens to the public.
