Kaspar Hamacher

As technology advances and new materials are created, some designers prefer to work in the opposite direction and explore raw, archaic techniques, especially when it comes to working with wood. Logged furniture, a primitive approach to design that highlights the natural features of wood, is a good example of this trend.

Floris Wubben

Dutch designer Floris Wubben forced a tree trunk to grow into the shape of a chair by twisting and splinting its branches, while Belgian designer Kaspar Hamacher burns and chars specific sections of tree stumps to create four-legged stools.
