HBL Book of the Week: Un Atlas Imaginaire

L'Europe Animale, Physiologie Comique by André Belloguet, 1882

Un Atlas Imaginaire: Cartes allégoriques et satiriques by Laurent Baridon (Citadelles & Mazenod, 2011) shows how the world would be if it were simply more creatively arranged - using examples dating back to the Renaissance.

Baridon guides the reader through 800 curious and fantastical maps, created as long ago as 1335 and as recently as 2005, considering both the humour and beauty of his subject matter, as well as the fascinating historical context of each piece.
