French kitchenware brand Le Creuset has launched a collection of cookware inspired by global cuisine, which includes tagines, paella pans and balti pots.

Thinking Hands at Spoga + Gafa 2013

This year at Cologne's Spoga+Gafa trade fair we saw a growing number of companies and designers addressing the needs of the urban garden and gardener, as well as new ‘glowing’ ideas for furniture to light up to create mood and atmosphere.

Italian brand Essent’ial is showing a range of new products at Maison&Objet and Macef in Milan this season, all made from cellulose fibres.

Interiors tradeshow 100% Design will host a busy four-day programme of talks and seminars this month. Running Wednesday 18th September to Saturday 21st, Talks with 100% Design takes on a different focus each day, starting with architecture as its theme and closing with a day focused on the consumer.

Pastel colours continue to be in demand, as was obvious at Maison & Objet this September. Soft mint and soft coral were seen across all categories of products, covering tabletop items, outdoor and indoor furniture, as well as textiles.

Bar Chocolat: Baileys' chocolate pop-up

Liqueur brand Baileys will open a pop-up multisensory experience in London this week, with installations inspired by the pleasure of eating chocolate, in celebration of its new chocolate liqueur Baileys Chocolat Luxe.

Located in Covent Garden, Bar Chocolat will include a scent and flavour experience by Bompas & Parr, three-course meals by Blanch & Shock, edible art by chocolatier Amelia Rope and stylist Petra Storrs, and music by Lou Hayter.

Marimekko’s design team were inspired by the changing seasons and weather for their Autumn 2013 home collection, presented during Maison & Objet. The mood, colours and patterns of weather are translated into a range of table linen and ceramics.

The Art of The Brick: pixellated sculpture



Nathan Sawaya's travelling exhibition, The Art of the Brick, uses Lego building blocks to create sculptures that interpret raw emotions in the style of N.D.A-style pixellated effects.

Fruit Ninja: a peeled homewares collection



The texture and look of fruit peel has been made into a series of home accessories by Italian duo Mathery (Erika Zorzi and Matteo Sangalli) in their project, Fruit Ninja. The series of four pieces - Orange Jar, Avocado Vase, Banana Bowl and Rock Melon Coaster - transforms the short life of fruit peel into a long-life container's natural texture.

Cosmic cushions at Maison & Objet

German textile company Zoeppritz is showing a collection of retro-futuristic holographic cushions at this season's edition of Maison & Objet. Printed on synthetic reflective fabric, cosmic motifs are revealed only when the fabric catches the light in a certain way. The innovative surface cleverly emphasises the hypnotising effect space-related designs are currently generating.
