Students from London design school Central Saint Martins will once again exhibit their work in the Launchpad section of interiors tradeshow Pulse, which runs 10 - 12 June at Earls Court.

Highlights include a DIY pinhole camera, hybrid patterned homewares by way of the US and Russia, and kitchen textiles made by a philanthropic food collective.

MIT's non-stick glass

A group of mechanical engineers and scientists at MIT have developed LiquiGlide - a non-toxic glass coating that allows liquid to slide out of a bottle leaving absolutely no residue.

LDF preview: domesticMATTERS

London gallery Contemporary Applied Arts will be transformed into the home of a Modernist furniture collector during the London Design Festival this September.

The exhibition, called domesticMATTERS, will draw parallels between significant pieces of Modernist furniture, from Rocket gallery, and contemporary craft pieces by a selection of designer-makers.

Prometheus: Kinnarps' cameo

Prometheus, Ridley Scott's long-awaited return to the world he created in Alien (1979), opens at UK box offices today - and design fans will spot Materia's Omni chair in a cameo role. Designed in 2007 by Carl Öjerstam, Omni is used in the film to furnish the ice white quarters of Meredith Vickers, played by Charlize Theron.

Kenzo Maison linen: S/S 12 collection

Kenzo Maison's spring/summer 2012 bed linen collection combines soft florals and multi-width stripes with a colour palette of ecru, frost and tea rose accented by fruity brights.

Material Pleasures at Pulse 2012

British ceramic brand Material Pleasures will present a new collection of fine bone china tableware at London interiors show Pulse this month. Called Sorbet, the range uses 1950s-style scalloped edges, pleated detail and a pastel colour palette - evoking the aesthetic of our spring/summer 2012 interiors direction, Cinematic.

Kenzo Maison collection 2012

Kenzo presented its 2012 Maison collection in Milan this April, created in collaboration with Club House Italia. The range mixes contemporary luxury with traditional detailing, such as button-back upholstery, and Eastern influences.
