Once home to the famous Italian art collector Giuseppe Panza, Villa Panza is now one of FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano’s properties – where Hermès is currently presenting its new wearable art project realized by the French artist Daniel Buren.
The Villa in Varese houses in its stables a selection of 24 silk printed photo shootings, framed by the vertical stripes typical of the artist. The pictures by Daniel Buren, all dating back to the 1950s, depict Italy's landscapes and corners. The entire collection consists of 365 pieces.
This part of the new Hermès limited edition, entitled 'Photos-souvenirs au carré, Daniel Buren' is open to visitors from October 21 to December 28. An artist video interview and 39 black and white photos of these unique pieces’ manufacture are also on show.
But don’t miss a visit to the Giuseppe Panza’s art collection, on the upper floors. In the private rooms of the Villa, open to the public for the first time (by appointment), you can also see the first European site specific work by Daniel Buren: White and Green Paper Collage. Giuseppe Panza bought it in 1968.
